Marina Del Rey Hotel Los Angeles Reviews

With a long legacy behind it, spanning more than half a century, the Marina Del Rey Hotel in Los Angeles is an iconic 4 star property boasting of stunning waterfront views against the marina backdrop.
Each of its 164 rooms have been tastefully done up to cater to the demands and expectations of even the most discerning customers.

We wrote this review after staying at Marina Del Rey Hotel Los Angeles for 4 nights, check the pictures we took and what we didn’t like there:

A quaint location that offers unmatched marina views; LAX (Los Angeles Airport) is only a short 15-20 minutes’ drive away. Venice Beach is just adjacent to the hotel.

Valet Parking

Valet parking is where the hotel seems to have a bit of a let-down; it is practically enforced on hotel guests for a relatively steep fee of $38.

However there is a paid parking outside the hotel, that will cost around $30/night:

Otherwise, the hotel does have a nice texting system where guests can simply text their stub number and the parking attendants will do the needful, with the hotel informing guests when their vehicle is out and ready for them.

Take in consideration that you might need a car to reach Venice beach.

Enjoy sumptuous, healthy breakfast at the hotel’s popular Salt restaurant, while enjoying great views of the marina!
Ample breakfast menu options mean that you’ll never run out of options to choose from!

The pool at the hotel is particularly popular especially since it also features a Jacuzzi.

Since it is a heated pool, you can enjoy it even when the weather is cold or when the sea breeze is just too strong!

The party atmosphere at the pool is not restful, though we’re sure it appeals to younger travelers, side food and drinks are quite expensive (same as other near hotels).
Additionally, there are complimentary towels on offer at the pool, neatly arranged on lounge chairs in anticipation of guests.

Rooms at the Marina Del Rey Hotel are roomy and spacious. All rooms have balconies, letting you enjoy stunning all round views and the overall airiness that is typical of the area.
Tip: Opt for rooms on higher floors; the lower floor does not offer great views. Also, not all rooms offer marina views; there are ones facing the pool as well as the car park. So you might want to specify (or at least request!) a marina view room while booking or checking in.

  • No free in-room bottled water (it costs $3)
  • No microwave but the staff can bring one to the room for $10, or you can ask the restaurant to reheat your food

The beds in the hotel are extremely comfy, ensuring a good night’s sleep without any hassles. This is especially true since rooms feature thick, blackout curtains that keep exterior light and sound down to the minimum.

The hotel features its own popular restaurant & bar called Salt. While breakfast, as we mentioned, has ample choice, the fare is equally varied – and delicious too, during lunch and dinner.
Both the quality and quantity of food at Salt are commendable. Equally good is the variety of drinks like whiskey, dry red wine is on offer, as well as the service level that is expected at a restaurant in a hotel of the Marina Del Rey’s stature.
